Annexe in Suffolk
Decoration of kitchen, living room, bathroom and bedroom in an annex in Suffolk.
A small one bedroom annexe attached to a main house with an equally small budget which made this project fun to figure out.
The client specified bright colours to work with existing kitchen and bathroom, and personal touches throughout with a focus on inner child thinking.
“Mad King George” by Fired Earth was used in the kitchen in eggshell finish as a splash back instead of tiles, with “Bone White” by Fired Earth for the rest of the kitchen walls. The door leading into the bathroom was painted with chalkboard paint. A magnetic knife rack doubled up as a landing area near the front door to hold keys.
“Duck Egg” by Fired Earth was used in the living room to create a clean and calming feel, while still sticking with the brief of bright colours. Two Ikea picture shelves sit side by side to create one long shelf to display prints, records and other small sentimental items above the sofa creating a focal point of the space.
The tiny bathroom packs a punch with “Hansel and Gretel” by Fired Earth drenched across the walls, ceiling, woodwork and door, with green glass mosaic tiles also by Fired Earth on the mirror shelf that look like little green boiled sweets. A vintage wine box was also mounted on the wall to be used as extra storage.
